AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

To ensure that the students are aware of the nature, origin, history and scope of English Literature as a modern discipline and its relationship with other disciplines.

To make students aware of the different literary theories relevant to the study of English Literature.

To acquaint the students with the role of literature in society

To make the students understand how literature reflects the spirit of time

To enable the students to learn English language and literature because it has become lingua franca.

To familiarize the students with English literature written across the globe

To make students aware of the influence of literature on society and the enormous role it plays in bringing about changes in it.
