Brief Introduction to the Doctor of Philosophy in Biochemistry:

The initiation of Ph.D. program in Biochemistry is not only to meet the growing demand for higher
education but also to provide opportunities for our talented students to get better jobs. The
employment opportunities for holding Ph.D. degrees in Biochemistry are available in many public
and private institutions. Still, several vacancies need more competent and highly qualified graduates.
Moreover in both public and private sector universities and medical colleges need good biochemists
as a teacher. The said Ph.D program will provide trained human resources in the diversified field of
educational and research-oriented institutions Furthermore, the Ph.D graduates will be so trained that
they would render their services equally in the pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, food, feed, and in
chemical-based industries. Almost all the faculty members are Ph.D. from a well renowned national
and international institution.

Objectives of the program:

The program is designed to cater to the growing demand of producing skilled biochemists acquainted
with the latest biochemical techniques.
The specific objectives are:

  • To produce independent and creative thinkers with self-directed independent learning.
  • Train Postgraduates as per market demand
  • Ensure sound training for advanced research
  • To provide students with a foundational understanding of the chemical basis of biological processes as
    well as the skill sets to critically evaluate, interpret and create biochemical information.

Eighteen years of education in the relevant field (MS/ MPhil/ FCPS or equivalent qualification as recognized by HEC) with a minimum academic score of CGPA 3.0 (out of 4.0 in semester system) or 1st
div in annual system.

Academic Qualification: 30%
Test/Interview: 70%
